Once reconciliation takes root, the Spirit stirs the desire for real change. On this day we look at repentance not as emotion but as transformation—a turning that reshapes the very direction of our lives.
"No, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all perish as they did."
Luke 13:3
Repentance is not feeling sorry. It is not regret, guilt, or a moment of emotion. Repentance is change—real, tangible, observable change. It is the fruit that grows from a heart turning back toward God.
Jesus makes this clear: a life that does not change is a life that is not repenting. A disciple is not someone who believes the right things, but someone who becomes a person who does the works of Jesus. He created you for His works. He shaped you for His way. Repentance is aligning your life with that purpose.
Lent is a season tailor-made for this transformation. It invites you to look at your life and ask: What needs to change? What fruit is missing? What habits, attitudes, or patterns are keeping you from becoming who Jesus calls you to be?
Repentance offers freedom, not punishment. It opens the way to a life reflecting Christ. And every step of change, no matter how small, is a step toward becoming the disciple God made you to be.
Reflection Questions:
- What is one specific thing in your life that needs to change?
- What practical steps would help you make that change?
- How do you imagine you will feel once that change takes root?
Prayer:
Lord, give me the strength to change. Show me what needs to be transformed, and give me the courage to take the steps that lead to new life in You.
Daily Assignment:
Make a list of the changes you need to make to become a more faithful disciple of Jesus. Let this list guide your remaining days of Lent.
Repentance transforms lives, yielding the fruit Jesus desires.
